Imagine waking up in a canopy bed. You climb out and patter across the smooth floors to pull back the curtains, revealing brilliant cerulean water. The sun kisses the shore as it climbs above the palms. Water softly laps against the stilts that suspend your room above the ocean. You’re in paradise on earth. You’re in the Maldives
Beautiful on its own, the magic and allure of each atoll amplifies romance when shared with your partner. There are so many incredible tropical places to honeymoon — but for us, the Maldives are an absolute must-see.
Best Time to Visit the Maldives
The best time to travel to the Maldives is between December and March. During those months, the tropical climate is comfortably warm and hovers at a consistent 84 to 87 degrees. December through March are the driest months, with little to no humidity, making this peak season at all resorts.
If you don’t mind risking the storms, the off-season is generally less expensive. August is a good middle ground, when the weather is warm and prices are lower.
Bonus tip: we have a partner that allows you to pay over time. You can enjoy absolute luxury, without adding undue burden to your finances
Best Activities in the Maldives
Like any tropical destination, the best excursions and activities capitalize on the beautiful, warm waters that surround the atolls. If you want to stay above the surface, you can charter a private yacht, go on a dolphin cruise, or give parasailing a try. Divers and snorkelers will thoroughly enjoy the coral reefs and kaleidoscope of marine life.
There are golf courses aplenty (hello, beautiful view and island breezes), plus adventure-based activities like night snorkeling and shark diving. And of course, you can’t skip the spas. Massages are divine anywhere in the world, but you just can’t beat a deep tissue massage with an ocean view.
Emerald Maldives Resort and Spa
Sitting atop Fasmendoo Island on the Raa Atoll, the all-inclusive Emerald Maldives Resort and Spa marries contemporary style with natural warmth inspired by the environment. Bamboo, stone, and Langhi Langhi leaves perfectly balance the high ceilings and soft, white lights hung around the property. Each villa feels intimate and inviting, with a spacious bathtub big enough to accommodate two and an “under the stars” private outdoor shower.
Built in traditional Balinese style, the on-site Emerald Spa spans across 10 private air-conditioned bungalows and offers western, Balinese, and Thai treatments. And if that’s not enough to convince you to book a facial or massage, you can also enjoy a thoroughly relaxing soak in a Turkish bath. Though you’ll be tucked away in an unspoiled paradise, you can enjoy cuisine from around the world at the Emerald Maldives’ restaurants, with types of food including:
- Mediterranean
- Latin American
- Asian
Other activities available for the adventurous include:
- Diving
- Snorkeling
- Kayaking
- Windsurfing
But if you’d rather recline beneath the sun and listen to the water below your villa, we don’t blame you one bit.
What we love: Of the two available tennis courts, one can be converted into a soccer field. We love the ingenuity of options, and athletes will be glad to get in a game.

With several of the best resorts in the Maldives for honeymoons spread across the atolls, there is something to suit your every whim. Get in a round of golf, break a sweat with beach volleyball, or enjoy a private movie night on the white sands of your own slice of paradise. It wouldn’t be a Maldives experience without several ocean excursions, including:
